Becky Savage is the Founder of 525 Foundation. She lost two of her children to the opioid crisis and shares her story with Brian Wilson, host of the new podcast series Opioids: Hidden Dangers, New Hope. Ms. Savage explains how the tremendous loss lead to the development of the 525 Foundation which is dedicated to finding solutions to the opioid crisis.
Ms. Savage shares her story with other parents about what happened to them to increase awareness in the hopes of helping others. When asked by parents “What can we do? How can we make sure this doesn’t happen?” she tells them:
It’s so simple. Go home and clean out your medicine cabinets. Any expired medications that aren’t needed or medications that aren’t being used, get them out of your house so that they do not end up in somebody’s pocket at a graduation party.
Ms. Savage goes on to tell Brian Wilson that she’s found DisposeRx easy for people to use, and especially useful because “a lot of communities don’t have permanent pill drops in their communities, or if they do, they’re few and far in between” so it “is another option of something that they can use to dispose of medications properly.”
